Ethno group "Iva"

Ethno group “Iva” is a vocal-instrument ensemble founded in 2004 in Doboj. Iva gets its name from special medical herbs – iva (lat. teucrium montanum) which grow at a nearby mountain Ozren. The ensemble’s creator and art director is professor master Sasa Pavlovic. The goal of ethno group Iva is to preserve traditional Serbian music in its original style but with the new, modern sounds in the style of ethno-fusion jazz rock. The repertoire is composed of vocal and vocal-instrument pieces from the field of Serbian folk and spiritual music. Ethno group Iva has held many concerts and has participated in various celebrations, solemn academies and humanitarian concerts in its own country and in many countries abroad. Besides numerous concerts Iva has participated several times at international competitions of traditional songs and has won the best prize sand awards. The first CD named “The grass Iva makes a dead man alive“ and several music videos were published by Music reproduction Radio Television of Republic of Srpska and Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka. The group is actively working on its second CD which is planned to be released during the current year. All of Iva’s work has been recorded in the studio Pacca in Smederevska Palanka. Further, ethno group Iva has filmed several music videos. Today, Iva is one of the greatest representatives and abassadors of Doboj’s culture and one of the leading musical ensembles in the field of preservation of traditional cultural heritage of Republic of Srpska. Last but not least, ethno group Iva has been working very hard in order to justify folk saying - “The grass Iva makes a dead man alive!”. Members of the group are: Sasa Pavlovic, keyboard and vocal; Marijana Simic, vocal; Zaklina Vucenovic, vocal; Jelena Basic, vocal; Teodora Pavlovic, violin; Branislav Vidovic, bass guitar and vocal; Zivko Popovic, guitar and vocal; Sven Mehicic, clarinet; Sasa Ristic, drum and Marin Milutinovic, percussion.
